Money Smart Week Michigan To Be Hosted Locally:
Goal Is To Promote Personal Financial Literacy

Manistee, Michigan - Michigan State University Extension and National City Bank announce Money Smart Week Michigan occurring April 20-26, 2008. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago leads the way in promotion of the 5th annual Money Smart Week campaign. This event will also be promoted locally by National City’s Joni Purgiel and MSU Extension.

The goal of Money Smart week is to promote personal financial literacy. This effort also includes a collaborative effort of agency presentations by community groups, financial institutions, government agencies, educational organizations, and financial experts. The campaign is designed to help consumers learn to better manage their personal finances.

Joni Purgiel of National City in Manistee will be presenting an America Saves presentation encouraging community members to recognize the importance of saving. Cynthia Corey of MSU Extension will offer Money Smart tips and hints. The event will be held on Thursday April 24th at West Shore Educational Center, 1465 East Parkdale Ave. in Manistee from 6:30-8:00pm.
