ON-LINE SURVEY SEEKING INPUT FOR
MANISTEE’S ECONOMIC FUTURE
Manistee, Michigan -- Would you recommend Manistee County as a place to live? What community improvements would you like to see in the next five years? How would you rate the availability of employment opportunities in the County?
These are some of the questions that are being asked in an on-line survey to determine the economic development options and potential for lands surrounding Manistee Lake. The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is being administered by Whittaker Associates, a firm working under contract with the Alliance for Economic Success.
“To understand the economic development future of the City of Manistee and the communities and townships surrounding Manistee Lake, we need to gain an understanding of the needs and aspirations of people who live, work and raise families around Manistee Lake,” said Renee’ Ihlenfeldt, Executive Director of the Alliance for Economic Success. “Whether you are a fulltime or seasonal resident, vacationer or businessperson, we need your perspective.”
Ihlenfeldt said that there will also be open public forums to gather ideas and suggestions about the development potential of Manistee Lake properties.
“This on-line survey reflects our interest in encouraging everyone to participate,” said Ihlenfeldt. “Not everyone can attend a meeting, especially our seasonal residents, and this provides an important opportunity for their voices to be heard.”
“From Envision Manistee County to the City of Manistee’s Strategic Plan, the deep water port and the lands surrounding Manistee Lake have been consistently identified by the public as being among our most valued assets for economic development and jobs,” said Beth McCarthy, who chairs the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Economic Success. “And whether your priority is industry, open space and recreation, shopping or commercial interests, we need your ideas and opinions.”
