MANISTEE AREA COMMERCIAL FISHING NET LOCATIONS UPDATED

Manistee, Michigan – The location of commercial fishing nets in Lake Michigan waters near Manistee County has been updated on “blue cards” dated July 23, 2007 that are now available through the Manistee Economic Development Office.

The cards provide the global position system (GPS) coordinates for 17 commercial fishing nets and the approximate physical location of the nets. The cards are widely distributed to tackle shops, marinas, the Manistee First Street launch facility, the Manistee City Marina and other locations.

The commercial net location cards are developed and updated through cooperative meetings involving the Economic Development Office, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, Manistee Convention and Visitors Bureau, Manistee Charter Boat Association and Manistee County Sportfishing Association, with support from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fish Division.
