BRETHREN OPEN HOUSE INVITES INPUT FOR
COUNTY RECREATION PLAN

Brethren, Michigan – What can be done to enhance recreational opportunities and universal access in and around Manistee County’s lakes, rivers and streams?

What are the recreation priorities for students and families?

What about our trails and trail systems?

How can we develop recreational opportunities that will support Manistee County businesses and jobs?

What should be done to let the rest of the world know about Manistee’s unrivaled opportunities for recreating?

These are just some of the questions that Manistee County residents are weighing in on as part of the effort to complete a Manistee County Recreation Plan, an initiative being led by the Manistee County Planning Commission with funding from the Manistee County Community Foundation.

And if you have a stake in the future of recreation in Manistee County, you won’t want to miss the second of two Open Houses to gather input for Manistee County’s Recreation Plan, scheduled for Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brethren High School in the Media Center.

“The recreation plan will provide a guide for Manistee County to develop our recreational resources in a way that responds to community needs and priorities,” said Sue Wagner, planning director for Manistee County. “The February 19 Open House provides an opportunity for everyone to drop by and share their ideas on what should be done to develop or expand all forms of recreational opportunities in the County.”

Wagner said a big crowd turned out for the first Recreation Plan Open House in the City of Manistee, generating dozens of ideas for the county’s Recreation Plan.

The February 19 Open House will provide an informal format where people can drop in at any time between 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. to offer their suggestions.
