EMPLOYER WORKSHOP SCHEDULED ON LABOR LAWS
Manistee, Michigan -- Employers with questions about labor laws are encouraged to attend a February 7, 2008 meeting hosted by Department of Labor and Economic Growth, Northwest Michigan WORKS! Manistee, Michigan WORKS!, West Central Ludington, the “2008 Annual Western Michigan Agriculture Labor Local Employer Meeting.”
The meeting will be held in the Administrative Conference Room (formerly the Campus Center) at West Shore Community College, 3000 N. Stiles Road, Scottville, MI on February 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration cost is $20.00 per person and covers materials and lunch.
The meeting purpose is to help employers understand and comply with labor laws that have become increasingly more complex due to legislative changes and new challenges facing employers. In addition to providing general labor law information and education, this meeting will provide details on laws and regulations affecting agricultural growers.
The agenda includes: a discussion of how employers can shop to find the best workers compensation rates; a presentation of how employers can qualify for income tax credits; a panel discussion involving representatives from the Farm Bureau, Social Security Administration, Immigrations, the Office of Citizenship and Unemployment Office; and a review of programs and tools to help employers comply with labor laws and requirements.
