AES Seeking Applications for Energy Audits of Government Facilities

Manistee Michigan – The Alliance for Economic Success (AES) announced today that it is seeking proposals for energy audits in government owned facilities in Manistee County. The AES is administering an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), awarded to Manistee County by the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth (DeLEG).

The Alliance for Economic Success, through a contract with EnergyChek International, using $55,000 from the EECBG will administer energy audits for selected facilities. Local units of government should use the attached Request for Proposals (RFP) form to apply for an audit in one or more of their facilities. Facility managers interested in an energy audit should submit proposals to the AES. All local government owned/operated facilities in Manistee County are eligible for an audit. Eligible government-owned/operated facilities include
  • City, village, township, and county offices, and other municipally owned structures such as theaters and museums
  • Public Libraries
  • County owned/operated health care facilities, including mental health and public health offices and related space
  • Manistee County Public School buildings
  • Municipal airport offices and facilities
  • County Correctional Facilities

Energy audits will be awarded on a competitive basis. To be eligible for an audit, facility managers must complete and submit the RFP/Application form attached to this announcement, also available on the AES web site:

Proposals must be submitted to the AES no later than July 30, 2010. Free energy audits will begin in August 2010.

Local government agencies will receive a direct mail announcement containing a printed version of the application and instructions on RFP/Application submission. Questions about the application process, and completed applications should be sent to:

A goal of the AES EECBG Energy Audit Grant project is to provide free, comprehensive audits for government-owned facilities that can realize the greatest savings from energy conservation, and that are best prepared to implement recommendations from the free audits.

“This grant is a perfect fit with the priority of our County Board of Commissioners and their Green Team to promote county-wide energy efficiency and conservation,” said Tom Kaminski, Manistee County Administrator. “The future of our County depends in no small measure on how well we lead in improving efficiency and reducing waste. This grant will be a catalyst to achieve important energy savings and waste reduction throughout Manistee County.”
