Internationally Renowned Micro-Business Trainers Coming to Manistee
“It’s about income!” That is the focus of two dynamite individuals who are making a visit to Manistee this Friday. Doreen Rosimos and Darcy Wilson worked in partnership to found IncomeLinks. LLC. IncomeLinks assists people who struggle below the poverty line to generate income by starting their own micro-business. IncomeLinks believes that assisting customers in starting their own enterprise gives them the freedom and ability to take charge of their lives.
Doreen and Darcy were part of the original team in New Hampshire that implemented the principles of self-determination (self determination means that people have the freedom to decide how they want to live their lives and receive the support they need.) and helped create true freedom for people with disabilities. Doreen and her brother Jack were featured in an article in U.S. News and World Report. She has helped her brother create the life that has meaning to him, while ensuring that he is safe and healthy. She was one of the founding members of the Center for Self Determination, a national organization.
Both Doreen and Darcy have worked to help implement self determination principles and more specifically micro-enterprises all over the world. Doreen believes that all people, regardless of how their bodies work can produce income. “It doesn’t take much to make more than nothing”. They are bringing their empowering approach to income development to area local entrepreneurs in Manistee, Michigan this Friday and Saturday.
Via a strategic partnership that has formed between Manistee County Economic Development Office and Manistee-Benzie Community Mental Health, micro-businesses are sprouting up in both Benzie and Manistee Counties. George Ott, Self-Determination Coordinator of MBCMH, says that fifteen micro-businesses are now underway since the Initiative was launched this April. “Our Manistee-Benzie Initiative is a blueprint for a state-wide strategy to develop micro-businesses as part of an over-arching objective of income development,” said Ott.
“This Friday, the fifteen local micro-business owners, along with other community members, will benefit directly from with the enthusiasm and expertise of individual training sessions by Doreen, and the newest member of their team, Ana Perera,” Ott said. Together they will teach four guiding principles to start a business. Begin with very small amounts of money. Get it up and running within a short time frame. Your time is worth money. One person at a time. This is all found on their website at www.incomelinks.biz.
The media are invited to attend a special session with Doreen and Ana and 2 local authors, Sheryl and Dave, micro-business entrepreneurs, who are just beginning to market their books. The session will be held, this Friday, September 28th, from 1-2:30 at the Manistee Public Health Department Conference Room at 395 3rd Street. Ott says, “We are very fortunate to be able to bring them to our area.”
“We believe there is no better way to drive a self-determined life, than to start your own business and be the boss! “ Rosimos said.
