Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC)

The Alliance for Economic Success collaborates with the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) to provide a full range of training and workshops for small to medium sized businesses that are emerging and growing.  Manistee area businesses and entrepreneurs are serviced by MI-SBTDC’s Region 2 center which is located in the Northwest Michigan Works! Building in Traverse City.  Their training and workshops are designed to provide a basic understanding of all facets needed to operate a business.   The following link will allow you to search the MI-SBTDC Training Calendar

West Shore Community College (WSCC) 

WSCC is a 360 acre campus, located about 20 miles south of the City of Manistee. In addition to their academic courses, WSCC has a Workforce Development Division that is dedicated to providing courses and programs that meet the needs of industry and business.  WSCC understands that training often must be customized in order to have a meaningful impact.  WSCC works closely with the Alliance for Economic Success to keep their pulse on the workforce development needs in the Manistee area.  WSCC will work directly with an individual business to provide timely, customized training.

WSCC is flexible on the development of training content, instructors, location and format. Training can take place on campus, at various satellite locations across Manistee County or in the workplace. Training program lengths and format can range from a day-long class to a series of class sessions that span several months. WSCC is committed to locating the best qualified instructors to lead training sessions, if a WSCC instructor does not have the precise expertise required. 

Economic Development Job Training Program (EDJT)

The EDJT program seeks to ensure that Michigan has the training resources to retain and attract business and people to move into the 21st Century with a highly skilled workforce. EDJT program provides a grant for specialized training required by an employer. The employer works with training providers to develop effective training.
