MANISTEE IDC AWARDS $10,000 TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS OF ALLIANCE FOR ECONOMIC SUCCESS

MANISTEE, MICHIGAN –  The Industrial Development Corporation of Manistee County (IDC) has awarded a $10,000 grant to support the operations of the Alliance for Economic Success (AES), the 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charged with supporting economic and community development in Manistee County.

“I am pleased that our IDC Board has taken the lead in granting funds to the AES to support their plans and programs throughout Manistee County,” said Charlie Brooks, President of the IDC Board of Directors and President of Brooks Roofing Company in Bear Lake, Michigan.  “We agree with and want to encourage the AES’s plan to support businesses and job creation for the County.  They will be taking a number of steps to help our communities become development ready for all businesses – from manufacturing to agriculture to tourism and more.”

The AES recently announced the addition of Board members and a new staff alignment focused on business, community and resource development, consistent with a strategic plan recently completed by the AES Board.  Priorities for 2015 and beyond include:  helping communities complete infrastructure projects, such as wastewater systems to support development;  assisting businesses with retention, expansion and new development;  development of one-stop services for permitting business expansion and development; target marketing of opportunities and properties to develop new business and job opportunities; and facilitating completion of a county-wide recreation plan, a trail plan a port strategy and much more.

“We appreciate that the IDC is once again stepping up to help the AES and Manistee County,” said AES Board Chair Beth McCarthy.  “They have recently supported high priorities like the reopening of the Vogue Theatre and small business counseling and this grant certainly builds on their investment toward the prosperity of Manistee County.  We look forward to working with the IDC and their members to achieve great things through a very ambitious AES work plan.”
