AES Begins New Initiative to Help Businesses

16-Jun-2016

MANISTEE AND BENZIE COUNTIES, MICHIGAN – Work has begun to help businesses throughout Manistee and Benzie Counties through the Alliance of Economic Success and a team of partners using a little different approach.

“While helping businesses with their growth and development is an ongoing mission of the AES, what makes this different is that we’re visiting a range of about 30 businesses through September 1 with a multi-disciplinary team of agencies each with specific tools and programs to support the success of the business,” said Betsy Evans, Director of Business Development for the AES.  “One of our important purposes is to simply listen and ask questions so we can understand needs and priorities and craft a game plan to help where needed.  Collectively, the team has a variety of technical and financial support services as well as tools for recruiting employees, employee training and much more.

Agencies participating in the business visits include the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Works and, in some cases, the Michigan Department of Agriculture – Rural Development.

The initiative is part of a statewide effort administered through the Michigan Prosperity Regions, in this case Networks Northwest, to bolster the region’s business retention services and better respond to the needs of businesses.

“By no means are the services of AES limited to this special initiative,” Evans said.  “Any business that would like assistance or simply has questions about our services can contact us to schedule a visit at 231-723-4325.   If we don’t have the expertise, tools and services needed, our job is to find them among the various public agencies, post-secondary institutions and others who make up the web of business service providers.”
